Foolish laughter. Forced laughing, with confused ideas. She sang constantly and talked hastily, but indistinctly; was very violent, and beat about her if she was spoken to strongly or taken hold of. Very merry mood, completely delirious; singing and imitating with her hands the occupation of spinning. He sings amorous and obscene songs. He talks more than usual, and more animatedly and hurriedly. Great mental vivacity, such as he had not exhibited for years, with perpetual talking during twenty- four hours, night and day. Indomitable rage. Patients who have taken it, and not in large quantities, have been known, upon the slightest provocation, to fly into most violent passions, and to become perfectly, but fortunately momentarily, mad with rage. He lays violent hands upon others. He is violent, and beats people. Strikes and tries to kill the bystanders. They bit, scratched, and nipped every one who interfere with them (after eight hours). Jealousy. Alternations of quiet and rage. Case 19). Extremely lively and merry (first day); morose, and extremely inclined to quarrel (second day). Intellectual. He is quiet, reflective. Disinclination to mental work. Disinclination to think and work. Disinclination to study, the whole afternoon (second day). Aversion to reading. Inability to fix the attention on any subject, which lasted two days; every attempt to overcome this was followed by confusion and headache. Was unable to collect his thoughts while reading. In coherent thoughts, with extreme excitement. Disconnected words. While reading, he interpolates improper words and sentences. At times the ideas stand still (second day). Inability to think (second day). The head is very much affected, like a loss of ideas; he is averse to everything, and sleeps several hours in the afternoon (without dreams), frequently half awake (after nine hours) Inclined to forget himself in his thoughtless gazing at objects (after half an hour. He does not answer). Case 8). The child answered in an unintelligible manner. сonfusion, dulness of sense. сonfusion of the sense, weakness of sight, and some difficulty in speaking; a by no means disagreeable state, like slight intoxication (seven hours after 1 3/4 grains). Aching in the eyeballs, especially on moving hem outward and upward (after one hour). Sensation of pressure upon the eyeballs, which were very sensitive to hard pressure. Sensation of pressure on the right eyeball, the upper and outer part of which is sensitive to touch (first day). Pressive sensation in the eyeball, with heaviness in the upper lids. Pressive sensation in the right eyeball, especially on turning it outward and upward (second day). Slight pressive sensation in the eyeball (first day). Right eyeball somewhat sensitive and the pupil smaller than usual. Pupil. Pupils dilated, etc.; one case, after 18 3/4 grains). Pupil of left eye much dilated, and insensible of the influence of light, but there was no photophobia. Pupils much dilated, but they contracted under the influence of light, though more slowly than usual (after several hours); movable, but still somewhat dilated (second morning). Pupils widely dilated and immovable; she complained of intolerance of light, and shaded her eyes with her hands, not by closing the lids (after several hours). Pupils greatly dilated, (after half an hour), etc. Pupils greatly dilated, and almost insensible to light. Pupils excessively dilated. Extreme dilatation of the pupils. Pupils so dilated that the iris appeared as a mere thread like rim (after four hours). Pupils dilated to such a degree that the iris was completely hid behind the cornea (in the man). The pupils become smaller as the headache becomes worse (second day). The pupils are not quite round (first day). Vision. Increased sensitiveness of the eyes to the light. Photophobia (with lachrymation in the open air), (first day), Photophobia;lids closed against the light. Slight photophobia. The sight for a long time was very acute. Farsighted, with great clearness of vision and dilated pupils; the far-sightedness lasts several days, and goes off gradually (after three hours), Impaired vision. Diminished vision. Illusions of vision; nine persons saw all objects in a scarlet red light (after eating the root). Illusions of vision; objects seem fiery red. Illusions of vision; everything seems like gold. Illusions of vision; small objects seem very large. Illusion of vision; while reading the letters seemed to move, and looked like ants running together. Flickering before the eyes. Flickering before the eyes; dark points rapidly move to and fro (after one hour). Visions of stars and sparks; also all objects seemed to be cut into teeth or covered with points; all white objects seemed surrounded by colored rings. Sometimes she saw stars and sparks before her eyes, and had peculiar illusions; all white objects appeared to her surrounded by rings or borders, in which yellow predominated; if she looked into a cup, the edges appeared yellow, but the interior seemed as if there were small animals moving in it (after several hours); at intervals muscle volitantes, and objects appeared to be strongly illuminated and to have colored edges (second day).

Dull headache in the forehead, especially in the meninges of the brain. Paroxysmal, at times contractive, confusing headache in the upper part of the forehead, with general discomfort, at another time freedom from all trouble, and ease, with excited fancies, the latter lasting much longer than the former condition (after one hour). Pressure in the forehead. Pressure and heat in the forehead, somewhat, relieved by nosebleed. Pressive pain in the forehead, so that he wrinkled the skin (second day). Pain, mostly pressive, in the region of the forehead and occiput, less in the parietals, and still more seldom in the encephalon. Sticking in the head, over the right eye, when coughing. Throbbing pain in the left frontal eminence (second day). Temples. Headache after eating; pressures in the temples, and aching in the whole external head (after four hours and a half). Pressive pain in the right temple, forehead, and upper lid, with dizziness, disappearing on moving about in the open air, The pain in the temples in aggravated in the cold air, and relieved in the house (second day). Vertex. Pressure in the vertex and drawing in the nape of the neck, on turning the head (after three hours). сrawling in the head, on the crown (after one hour). Occiput. Pain in the occiput. Tension in the occiput (second day). Tearing headache in the occiput). The pain concentrated itself in the sides of the occiput, which felt as if sore, relieved by pressure (second day). External Head. Gnawing pressure in the scalp, aggravated by moving it or pressing upon it (after fifteen hours). Head symptoms relieved by a cup of coffee.
