Additional information

SCORE scale (Systematic COronary Risk Evaluation). Assessment of the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases over the next 10 years.

Interpretation

Depending on the received risk value (in percent), the patient should be assigned to one of the following categories: <
  • - less than 1 - low risk,
  • - from 1 to 5 - medium or moderately increased risk,
  • - from 5 to 10 - high risk,
  • - 10 is a very high risk.
  • Some categories of patients by definition belong to the category of very high risk; using the SCORE scale in such cases is pointless:

    • Established diagnosis of cardiovascular disease (for example, a past myocardial infarction),

    • Age over 65,

    * Type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus,

    • Increase in total cholesterol above 8.0 mmol/l or blood pressure greater than 180/110 mmHg.
