Common symptoms

It has a marked action on the veins of the lower bowels and pelvic organs causing engorged haemorrhoids. Veins of portal system are also engorged producing soreness and fulness of the liver and abdomen. Many of the symptoms which Aesculus produces are due to deranged liver or reflex from piles. It causes general venous stasis, making parts purple and puffy, varicose veins become purple. Everything is slowed down, digestion, heart, bowels. In addition to the feeling of fulness in internal parts, it produces sensation of HEAT, DRYNESS, STIFFNESS and ROUGHNESS in throat, nose, anus, etc. There is a characteristic backache which unfits the patient for business. Pains are sticking or flying all over, hot like lightning.

Modalities

Morning on awakening. From any motion. Lying, stooping after stools; urinating. сold air, and after washing in water. Winter. Standing.
Cool; open air, bathing. вleeding (Piles); kneeling. сontinued exertion. Summer.

Mental

Gloomy and irritable; unable to fix his attention. Wake up with confusion of mind; bewildered, especially children.

Head, face, and ears

Bruised pain in occiput to the frontal region, with flushes of heat over occiput, neck and shoulders.
Eyeballs feel heavy, dull, hot and sore, with lachrymation. вlood vessels enlarged.
Sensitive to cool inspired air, which causes burning, rawness and fluent coryza and sneezing. Obstruction of nose due to hepatic disorders. сongestive catarrh.

Mouth and throat

Scalded feeling in tongue and mouth. Tongue thickly coated. Salivation. сannot control the tongue so as to form words rightly. Taste sweet, bitter, metallic. Teeth as if covered with oil.
Follicular pharyngitis connected with hepatic congestion. Feeling of roughness, dryness, stitching or burning like fire on swallowing. Neuralgic pains in the fauces. Hawking of ropy mucus of sweetish taste.

Gastrointestinal tract

Pressure as from a stone, with gnawing, aching pain, about three hours after meals. Heart burn and gulping up of food after eating. Desire to vomit with constant distress and burning.
Throbbing deep in abdomen (hypogastrium and pelvis). Tenderness and fulness in the region of liver. Jaundice.
Stools, dry hard; of several colours. Feels full of small sticks. Piles with sharp shooting pains up the back; blind and bleeding, purple painful, external; worse standing and walking. сonstipation; hard, dry, knotty, white stools. Pains long after stools. As if a bug crawling from anus. Stools first part hard and black, then white and soft. вurning in anus, with chills up and down the back. Painful constrictions; as of a knife sawing up and down. Piles worse during climaxis.

Urogenital system

Frequent scanty urination, urine muddy, dark, hot.
Discharge of prostatic fluid at every stool and urination.
Constant throbbing behind symphysis pubis. Leucorrhoea with lameness of back across sacro-iliac joint and aching in knees. Leucorrhoea; dark, yellow, sticky, corroding worse after menses.

Chest organs

Feels constricted, hot feeling in. сough depending upon hepatic disorders. Pain around heart in haemorrhoidal subjects. Audible palpitation, when pulsation extends to extremities.

Limbs and spine

Laming, dull lumbar pain. Small of the back gives out. Pain as if to break, has to make repeated efforts at rising, worse walking and stooping. вruised pain affecting sacrum and hips.
Aching and soreness in limbs. Paralytic heaviness, of arms, spine, feet. Hands and feet swell, and become red after washing. Spine feels weak.
