Mental

 Emotional. Much mental depression. Great depression of spirits, with the headache. Despondency; thinks he is going to be very sick, then a disposition to laugh at his fears, which, however, soon return, Nervous fretfulness, lasting all day, Vexed, irritable mood, disposed to find fault, Feels irritable, cross with her children, dislikes every one (third, fourth, and fifth days). Very irritable through the day (sixth day). Awoke feeling very irritable (fourth morning). Ill humor. A disposition to feel displeased with everything and everybody, which gives place to a feeling of liveliness and activity. intellectual. Head, face, and ears

 Vertigo. Immediate dizziness,; with pressure in forehead. Sudden dizziness, immediately, soon passing off. Slight giddiness, coming on suddenly while walking within doors. General Head. Slight momentary dulness of head (resembling vertigo). Lightness in the head, after the giddiness. Head feels very heavy, eyes dull, with pain directly over the left superciliary ridge. sensation of fullness of the head. Headache, with pain in the bowels. Headache is very troublesome (eleventh day). Headache occurring irregularly several days. Headache, gradually diminished (five minutes after 2D dose, first day). Dull, heavy headache (twelfth day); all day (sixth and seventh). Stupid and stunning headache, with the neuralgia (fourth day); violent head ache (fifth day). Slight, dull, stupid headache (second day). Headache for two days: the third day he was seized with peculiar headache; the pain shot, as he describes it, like an electric shock, from the right temple to the left part of occiput, and continued for about half an hour; headache with great depression of spirits and general debility. Acute pains in the head, as if the top of the head would come off; felt chiefly in the fore head and vertex, after having been in the cold air, and on making quick motions, in the morning, soon after taking (eighth day). Forehead. Pain in the forehead and left temple (second day). Pain in forehead at intervals (third day). Slight pain in forehead, and considerable in posterior fontanelle, at 6 p. m. (second day). Slight pain in forehead, changing from side to side (second day). Good deal of pain in the forehead and temples (eighth day). Tightness across the forehead. Whenever attempt ing to laugh, a sensation as though a band drawn tightly around the forehead prevents. Frontal headache, with dizziness occasionally, in the evening. Dull headache in the frontal region (six hours and a half after first dose, first day). Dull, heavy headache in the forehead (one hour after first dose, first day),; (second day). Dull, heavy headache in the forehead and temples (fourth, fifth, and ninth days). Temples. Slight pain in right temple (five minutes after third dose). Slight dull pain in right temple, which in five minutes passed over top of head, behind left ear, and ceased in one minute more (ten minutes after first dose), At times the pain in the temples is very sharp (first, second, fifth, and tenth days). вy spells the pains in the temples are very sharp and shooting (fourth day). Severe shooting pains pass through the temples several times a day, for a fort night. On moving jaws, e. g., in eating or talking, a tender feeling of mastoid processes, extending half way down jaw along edge of bone (eighth day). Throbbing pain in both mastoid processes; it lasts about fifteen minutes, then there is a tingling three or four minutes, then all ceases for fifteen minutes; the warmth of hand slightly relieved pain, in the afternoon (sixth day). Parietals. Dull pain in the right parietal protuberance, which increases steadily until it becomes a hammering pain, and so much aggravated by motion, that for the moment it appears unbearable, but by continuing movement it gradually abates, returning again when at rest. Acute and extremely severe boring pain in right parietal protuberance, causing him to bend down his head. Occiput. Slight dull pain at situation of posterior fontanelle (after first dose); considerable at 6 p. m. (second day). Severe stitch in inferior part of occiput, more on the right than on the left side (after two hours). External Head. Top of the head has just twenty six pustules on it, some of them as large as a three cent piece; the pustule is situated upon an inflamed base of a rose color, with red streaks running form one to another; they contain yellow matter; very tender to the touch; gradually disappearing in four days (after nine days). Tight constrictive feeling of the scalp (one hour after first dose, first day),.
 Eyes.
 Eyes much sunken in (second day). Severe burning pain in the internal canthus of the right eye. Redness of the conjunctiva, as if from cold. Eye filling with tears. Profuse flow of tears (after fifteen minutes, fourth day).
 Ear.
 Pressure towards and out at the ears (first day).
 Nose.
 Sneezing, immediately.
 Face.
 General appearance of anguish. Expression of great anguish in the face. Flushed face (second day). сracked lips. Dry cracked lips. Walked with neuralgic pains in the right side of the face; darting stitches in two carious teeth; pain especially the infraorbital nerve; facial neuralgia passed off (third day); facial neuralgia, involving the supra and infraorbital, and the superior maxillary, and the inferior dental nerves; began after breakfast, with stupid or stunning headache, and lasted several hours, with great severity (fourth day); began after breakfast, and continued with terrible severity for twenty hours; violent headache accompanied it, and general malaise (fifth day); dull soreness where the neuralgia had been (sixth day).

Mouth and throat

 Teeth. Toothache. Slight toothache, in a warm room. Teeth sore (tenth day). Teeth feel elongated and sore; back, upper, and lower molars; dull, heavy aching pain in them for three hours (second and third days). Teeth feel too long and are very sore (second day). Gums. Swelling of gums on the inner surface of left side of lower jaw, under the molar teeth. Tongue. Tongue coated white (fifth day). Tongue and gums greasy or slimy, in the morning. Tongue feels thick, at 7 a. m. (second day). General Mouth. Rugae of roof of mouth appear to sight enlarged, pale, and two on right side are excoriated (sixth day),, Feeling of a greasy coating over mouth and tongue, early in the morning. вurning and smarting of palate and fauces. Mouth and stomach feel on fire (after fifteen minutes, fourth day). вack part of the mouth and fauces felt on fire all the afternoon, with profuse flow of saliva (first day). Soreness of the roof of the mouth, with roughness of the hard palate, very painful on being touched with the tongue or solid food, for several days; this is aggravated by a defective filled tooth, painful, feeling too long, and very tender when used. Soreness of hard palate. Great feeling of rawness of roof of mouth just behind front teeth; worse from hot or cold drinks, eating, touching with tongue, and especially form onions or cheese; also a feeling as if the skin of that part were hanging loose (third day); constant (fourth and fifth days); extend down to throat (sixth day); the same rawness of roof of mouth just behind the front teeth, but without the feeling of loose skin; after eating cherries in the morning (thirteenth day). Mouth and tongue feel as though they had been scalded, in the morning (second day). Mouth feels as if it had been scalded, tongue thick and rough, at 4 a. m. (fifth day). Saliva. Increased saliva. Profuse flow of saliva (immediately),; (after three hours, fifth day), continuing all day (after fifteen minutes, fourth day). сonstant discharge of ropy saliva dropped from my mouth during conversation (second day). Taste. Mouth tastes flat, at 7 a. m. (second day). Flat taste in the mouth (second, fifth, tenth, and eleventh days). вad taste. Acrid taste of the plant (first day). Taste so acrid that it was with difficulty that I could get my breath (first dose, second day, after fifteen minutes, fourth day). Loss of taste (fifth day).
 Throat.
 Rough throat, running saliva. вurning in the throat, palate, and tonsils, increased by expiration, diminished by inspiration (five minutes after first dose); increased (after second dose); same symptoms (after third dose, first day); increased (third day). Sore throat. Sore throat, with slight soreness of the chest, after the stiffness and lameness had disappeared. A feeling of rawness in the throat (after half an hour). Taste at first sweetish, and resembling that of slippery elm bark; he thought it quite insipid at first, but then began a smarting, burning, and scratching sensation in the soft palate, at first slight, but slowly increasing to a violent fiery heat, spreading over the whole extent of the fauces, upwards towards the nares, and far down into the oesophagus; the throat felt as if it were three times as large as usual, and like a fiery cavern; drinking water alleviated the burning for a short time only; many enlarged bright red blood vessels became visible on the uvula, palate, and posterior wall of fauces; the heat redness, painful burning lasted for two hours and half, very gradually subsiding (after five minutes), (Had to run a long distance in the after noon to reach the cars; got very much heated and into a profuse perspiration; took cold in the cars; sore throat again in the evening; burning, smarting, dryness of palate and fauces; feeling as if a horsehair were drawn tightly across the left palate, with burning and smarting; then took ten drops in a teaspoonful of water on going to bed; for half an hour the smarting increased; slept two hours and awoke without the smarting (second night); in the morning raised some loose mucus without coughing; never had the sore throat without subsequent severe coryza and catarrhal cough for several days; in this instance the affection was decidedly arrested at the outset). Uvula and Tonsils. Tonsils, uvula, and soft palate bright red, with engorgement of larger vessels (second day). Fauces, Pharynx and Esophagus. Heat about fauces, soft palate and tonsils, soon changing into smarting and burning; relieved by inhaling cold air; deglutition not painful but more difficult; the burning lasted over two hours (after a few minutes, first day). вurning in the fauces (after first dose); some burning in the throat; burning extends down the course of oesophagus to pit of stomach, with slight nausea (after second dose); gradually wore off towards evening. Some burning in fauces, palate, tonsils, and back of tongue; increased very much during expiration; diminished very much during inspiration (five minutes after first dose); almost immediately (after second dose); increased (after third dose); diminished gradually until evening. Slight burning in fauces, as if from taking cayenne pepper; only felt in expiration; continued till he went to sleep (after fifteen minutes, first day);the same burning, more severe, extending slightly to tip of tongue; it was felt slightly on inspiration; quite severe during expiration (second day). Very frequent spasms of the oesophagus, with inability to swallow; the food sticks in the throat, with choking and gagging. вurning extends down oesophagus to stomach (eight minutes after first dose, third day). Swallowing. Difficult deglutition while eating; food sticks in the pharynx requiring several efforts of deglutition to swallow it (after eight hours, first day).

Gastrointestinal tract

 Abdomen.
 Hypochondria. Pain of a dull, aching character, in right hypochondrium, when walking. Umbilical and Flanks. Rumbling all the afternoon in the umbilical region (third day). Great deal of rumbling in the umbilical and hypogastric region, with desire for stool; had a soft papescent stool, without pain (second day). Awoke at 4p.m with great rumbling and distress in the umbilical and hypogastric regions, and with great desire for stool, followed immediately by a copious, thin, watery stool, which could not be retained a moment without pain; another thin watery stool, with great rumbling in the bowels, at 8 a. m. (fifth day). Uterine pain in the umbilical region, passing in successive shocks (like the effects of a galvanic battery) upward to the epigastric region, followed or accompanied by nausea, straining and belching of wind. Severe colic in the umbilical region; pain came on every few minutes; lasted two hours, at 5 P. M. (eighth day). Severe colic, first in the right, then in the left flank, with urging to stool, in the afternoon (third day). General Abdomen. Great commotion and rumbling in the bowels above the seat of the pain, but little or none below, with no desire for stool. Great rumbling in the bowels (eighth and ninth day); all the time (fourth day). Flatulence. For a day or two much fetid flatulence. A good deal of fetid flatulence, in the afternoon (fourth day). A faintness as if the intestines were being revolved in the wrong direction, lasting several hours, and recur ring towards evening (soon) (seventh day). Pain in abdomen, which is relieved by discharge of flatus. Slight pain in bowels, with heat and soreness, as after a cold, and with premonitions of diarrhoea; this lasted for three hours (after half an hour). Flying pains all through the bowels (second day). Sharp, griping pain in bowels, for five minutes, at 6 P. M. (second day). вowels very tender on pressure (second day). Sharp neuralgic pains in bowels (eight minutes, third dose, third day). сolicky pains during the evening and night, obliging him to bend forward for relief, and attended with loss of appetite and great restlessness during the night; this colic continued the next day, but was immediately removed by a dose of Nux vomica. сolic in the afternoon, ceasing at night. Slight symptoms of colic after each pill. Iliac Region. Pain in abdomen above the crest of the ilium, both sides. Pain along posterior part of the сrista ilii of the right side.
 Rectum.
 Anus feels prolapsed; pained all day (fifth day). сonstant distress in anus, feeling as if it were prolapsed (second day). Severe burning in anus after stool (sixth day); diminishing after each stool (seventh and eighth days). Anus feels sore, or as if sharp points were sticking in the parts, in the morning (second day). Some disposition to stool, with burning at the anus (fifth day). Violent call to a second stool by a sensation as if wind were forcibly distending the rectum; no wind was discharged, but I was relieved discharging a little greenish dark water, attended with severe burning in the anus (sixth day).
 Stool.
 Diarrhoea. Diarrhoea with colic. Diarrhoea with rumbling and cutting in the lower part of the abdomen. Thin watery diarrhoea, continuing through the day (third day). Diarrhoeic stools, succeed by pain in the umbilical region (fourth day). After breakfast a diarrhoeic stool, with subsequent pain in the epigastrium. Sudden diarrhoeic stool after supper. Looseness of bowels. Soft, painless stools, with great rumbling in the bowels (twelfth day). Six dysenteric stools during the night, with pain and rumbling in the lower part of the abdomen. Two greenish black stools, with burning at the anus (fourth day). Very soft, yellow stool, with great rumbling in the bowels, but no pain (fifth day). Soft, papescent stool (four hours and a half after second dose, third day); (five hours after first dose, fourth day); in the evening (eighth day). Soft, papescent stool, with pain in the umbilical region at 5P. M. (eleventh day). Soft, papescent stool without pain, but rumbling in the bowels (six hours and a half after second dose, first day). Soft, papescent stool, with great rumbling in the bowels, at 8 p.m (seventh day). Large, yellow, papescent stool, with great rumbling and no pain (after three hours); another large watery stool; the burning in the pancreas (?) is fearful to endure (after three hours and five minutes); another watery stool, with colicky pains in the epigastric region (after three hours and quarter); there has been severe colic in the epigastric and umbilical region for the last two hours; every few moments copious watery stool, with great rumbling in the bowels (after six hours); great pain and distress in the bowels, followed by a large watery stool, still the pain continues (after six hours and a half); another watery stool; anus feels on fire (after seven hours); another watery stool, with a disposition to strain and bear down; great burning in the anus (after seven hours and a half ); another watery stool, with straining (after nine hours and a half, first day); great rumbling in the bowels, with desire for stool. Had a profuse one of a watery nature; followed by great staining, with the passage of a little mucus, at 4 P. M.; another watery stool, followed by great straining, with the passage of blood and mucus, at 5 p.m; another stool, of mucus streaked with blood, with great tenesmus, at 5. 30 p.m; stool of water and mucus with great straining, at 7 p.m сopious stool of water, and undigested food, with great straining, at 9 p.m another of mucus and water with great tenesmus and rumbling in the bowel, at 10. 30 p.m small stool of mucus, with great tenesmus and rumbling in the bowels; for the last six hours the mucous membrane of the anus has been prolapsed, with great smarting pains, at 12. 45 P. M. another small stool of mucus, with severe tenesmus, at 3 P. M. (second day ). Soft, mushy stool at evening, with great rumbling, but no pain (sixth day). Stools lumpy, brown, and very offensive. Very hard, lumpy stool (fifth day). сonstipation. сonstipation several days. Stool costive, and absent altogether for two days.

Appetite and food preferences

 Appetite. Increased appetite (after larger doses of tincture). Loss of appetite,; (second day). No appetite (fifth day). No appetite at dinner (third day). Eructation. Empty eructations and pain in the stomach, Frequent empty eructations, in the course of the day (second day). сonstant eructation of gas (seventh day). Frequent eructations of tasteless gas (third day). сonstant eructations of tasteless gas (fourth day),; during the whole period. сonstant eructations of sour gas (second day). Stomach very sour (second day). Food rises very sour (after seven hours and a half, first day),; (four hours and a half after first dose, first day). Heartburn. Heartburn, several times in the day; a hot cramp like sensation rises upward from pit of stomach (second day). Nausea and Vomiting. Nausea (five minutes after second dose, first day). Nausea and eructations of wind. Nausea, straining, and belching of wind. Nausea, belching of a large quantity of wind (ten minutes after second dose, third day). Nausea, and vomiting of a thin watery fluid of an exceedingly sour taste; constant nausea for more than an hour, and vomiting several times (first and second day). Nausea and slight vomiting of watery and extremely sour fluid, immediately. Slight nausea (after third dose). Slight nausea, eructation of much wind, at 6 p. m. (second day). Slight nausea, with much belching of wind (ten minutes after third dose). Nauseous feeling in abdomen, like the beginning of seasickness, soon (seventh day), Sickness of stomach in the evening, obliging him to lie down. Frequent and violent efforts to vomit, resulting, however, in little more than an enormous discharge of air, which seemed to move off the stomach in very great force. She vomited up several of the pills before she was relieved of one of the severe attack of colic I ever witnessed. Stomach. Rumbling and uneasiness in the stomach, accompanied by diarrhoea, with little pain. Uneasy feeling in the scrobiculus cord’s, together with rumbling in lower part of the abdomen; increased until the lower part of the sternum seemed protruding (after fifteen minutes). Great distress in the stomach; lasted two hours (half an hour after second dose, second day). Great distress in the epigastric region; the distress is horrible to endure (after three hours); increasing (after three hours and a half); very restless, cannot to still one moment; think I cannot live; very much frightened; copious discharge of thin water from the bowels, but no abatement of the awful agony in the epigastric region; inhaled chloroform, which gave a little relief; another large stool of water, tinged with bile; the water ran from the bowels in a continuous stream; nearly two quarts of water passed; there great rumbling in the bowels, but no pain; this great relief (after four hours and half, fifth day). Great burning distress in the epigastric region, but not much in the burning distress in the epigastric region, but not much in the mouth; it is awful, cold water not seem to reach it (immediately), (first day). One half hour of great pain and distress in the stomach; it is awful to bear; continued all the afternoon and evening; it is not a sharp pain, but an awful, burning distress; appears to be deep in the region of the pancreas; cold water does not touch it (after fifteen minutes, fourth day). Feeling of fullness of stomach, followed by eructation of wind, which relieves it (eight minutes after first dose, first day). Pinching at pit of stomach (first day). Aching pain in the stomach before breakfast. Aching pain in the stomach after drinking cold water. Slight twisting pain in the stomach.

Urogenital system

 Kidneys. Pain in right kidney; lasted three hours (third day). Urethra. сutting and sticking in the urethra when making water, with coldness and itching over the genitals, the itching being worse on scratching. Sharp cutting pain in the urethra, when commencing to urinate. Micturition. Very frequent, copious, perfectly limpid urine (third and fourth days). Passed water but twice during the day (second day). Urine. Urine increased in quantity. Increase of urine; urinated eleven times profusely (twelfth day); voided urine in large quantities (thirteenth and fourteenth days). Urine more copious. The urine was very copious, and had a strongly disagreeable odor, during the proving. Urine scanty and of strong odor; very dark and thick in the morning; it passes without force, and only after some straining, but without pain. Urine very scanty and high colored (fifth day). Urine very scanty, red, and burning the whole length of the urethra for half an hour after voiding it (second day). Great diminution of the secretion of urine; made a very little water morning and night, followed by great burning in the urethra for half an hour after voiding it (fourth day). Urine very red (second day). Urine thick, of strong odor, and deep amber color (owing to excess of uric acid); it flows without force, and even requires some effort to discharge it, but without pain (eight day).
