 Wake Robin ; White вeth-root. Smilacea.
 Grows in Middle and Western States in rich soils, in damp, rocky, shady woods.
 The tincture is prepared from the fresh root, which is oblong, tuberous.
 No provings.

Head, face, and ears

 Profuse epistaxis, passive.

Mouth and throat

 Bleeding from cavity after extraction of tooth.
 Hemorrhage from gums and mouth.
 Cancrum oris.
 Putrid sore throat.

Gastrointestinal tract

 Sinking in stomach. θ Hemorrhage.
 Heat and burning in stomach ; rising up in oesophagus.
 Hematemesis, with erosion of mucous coat of stomach.
 Constipation ; hard, dry stool.
 Dysentery, passages almost pure blood.
 Chronic diarrhoea of bloody mucus.

Urogenital system

 Hamaturia, passive.
 Chronic catarrh of bladder.
 Diabetes.
 Displaced uterus with consequent menorrhagia ; profuse flow.
 Gushing of bright-red blood from uterus, at least movement, later blood pale from anemia ; at times dark clots ; frequent desire to urinate.
 Great bearing-down feeling in pelvis when walking and standing ; backache ; sore pains in vaginal and uterine regions ; copious discharge of yellowish, stringy leucorrhoea ; constipation ; menstruation inclined to menorrhagia ; monthly flow lingers several days longer than usual.
 Sallow face with white lips and tongue ; tossing in bed from evening until after midnight, with a feeling as if hips and small of back were falling in pieces and a desire to bind them up tightly. θ Metrorrhagia.
 Excessive flooding with fainting ; face pale and anxious ; extremities cold ; no pain ; flabby subjects.
 Passive internal uterine hemorrhages, with occasional clots and much fetor.
 Flooding with fainting.
 Profuse uterine hemorrhage, at climacteric period, with prostration, vertigo, dimness of sight, palpitation and painful sinking at pit of stomach.
 Hemorrhage in abortion at third month.
 Ante-partum hemorrhage ; os uteri dilated to size of half dollar ; no pains ; flooding excessive.
 Menses come on after overexertion, too long a ride, etc., profuse flow.
 Profuse flow every two weeks, lasting a week or longer ; yellow and thick leucorrhoea between periods.
 Leucorrhoea : bloody, with great prostration ; yellow, creamy, profuse, between menses.
 Climaxis with weak sight, anxious look ; pale ; faint ; flow returns every two weeks.

Plant characteristics

 Threatened abortion ; profuse hemorrhage.
 Lochia too profuse ; lasts too long.
 Post-partum hemorrhage.

Chest organs

 Cough troublesome, copious purulent sputa ; hectic ; hamoptysis.
 Catarrhal cough ; chronic bronchitis or laryngitis.
 Incipient stage of phthisis with bloody sputa, or in advanced stages with copious purulent expectoration, hectic fever and troublesome cough.
 Pains through chest.

Limbs and spine

 Pain in back, with uterine hemorrhages.
 Sacro-iliac synchondroses feel as if falling apart, wants to be bound tightly. θ Hemorrhage.
 Legs cold with hemorrhages.
 Feels as if bones were broken ; with hemorrhages.
 Standing : bearing down in pelvis.
 Motion : hemorrhages.
 Walking : bearing down in pelvis.
 Every two weeks : profuse menses.
 Third month : hemorrhage in abortion.
 Between menstrual periods : leucorrhoea.
 Climacteric period : uterine hemorrhage ; weak sight ; pale ; faint ; flow every two weeks.

Common symptoms

 As if hips and small of back were falling to pieces ; as if sacro-iliac synchondroses were falling apart ; as if bones were broken.
 Pain : through chest ; in back.
 Burning : in stomach, rising into oesophagus.
 Sore pain : in vaginal and uterine region.
 Bearing down : in pelvis.
 Sinking : in stomach, with hemorrhage.
 Heat : in stomach, rising into oesophagus.
 Copious hemorrhages, especially of nose, kidneys and uterus ; active and passive, usually bright-red, profuse.
 Tendency to putrescence of fluids ; fetor of critical discharges.

Patient type and constitution

 Mrs. -, at. 45, nervosanguine temperament, suffering a year and a half ; menorrhagia.
 Miss A. J., at. 21, bilious temperament ; prolapsus uteri.
