 Курс медикаментозного лечения угрей включает в себя общую системную и местную наружную терапию. Наружные средства (себостатики, комедонолитики, противовоспалительные, противомикробные средства) используются в качестве монотерапии при угрях не воспалительного характера или при легкой форме воспалительных угрей. Системное медикаментозное лечение назначают, когда наружная терапия неэффективна в течение 3 месяцев, а также при умеренных и тяжелых формах прыщей, особенно при образовании рубцов. Системная терапия угрей включает противомикробные препараты (тетрациклины, макролиды), синтетические ретиноиды и гормоны для женщин (антиандрогены, эстрогены).
