Полное удаление околощитовидных желез (паратиреоидэктомия) показано при синдроме менингита (множественные эндокринные новообразования) I типа, аденомах, вторичном и третичном гиперпаратиреозе, гиперплазии и раке паращитовидных желез. После удаления неизмененные ткани околощитовидной железы помещают в охлажденную или криоконсервативную среду, затем измельчают на фрагменты размером до 1,3 Части ткани разрушенной железы имплантируются в отдельные мышечные карманы, обычно в области предплечья.
