 Электрофизиологические исследования в урологии позволяют судить о тонусе и функциональном состоянии мышц мочевого пузыря и сфинктеров, которые играют важную роль в задержке мочи и выполнении произвольного акта мочеиспускания. Они дают возможность определить причину нарушений мочеиспускания, выявить их связь с патологией спинного мозга или головного мозга. Электрофизиологические исследования выполняются путем наложения электродов на исследуемые мышцы и могут включать запись биоэлектрических потенциалов в состоянии покоя во время мочеиспускания и при стимуляции соответствующих участков центральной нервной системы.
