Interactions Ketorolac with Ketorolac
-
Dangerous interactions
- Although these results do not indicate a significant interaction between ketorolac and warfarin or heparin, administration of ketorolac to patients receiving anticoagulants should be carried out with extreme caution and patients should be closely monitored.
- Simultaneous use of ketorolac with probenecid is contraindicated.
- Isolated cases of seizures have been reported with the simultaneous use of ketorolac with antiepileptic drugs (phenytoin, carbamazepine).
- Hallucinations have been reported with ketorolac in patients receiving psychoactive drugs (fluoxetine, thiotixen, alprazolam).
- In the post-marketing period, there were reports of a possible interaction of ketorolac (IV or I/m) and non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, which led to apnea.
- The simultaneous use of ketorolac with muscle relaxants has not been formally studied.
-
Negative interactions
- Drugs that block tubular secretion reduce the clearance of ketorolac and increase its concentration in blood plasma.
- In animal or human studies, there is no evidence that ketorolac induces or inhibits liver enzymes capable of metabolizing ketorolac itself or other drugs.
- The binding of warfarin to plasma proteins in vitro'>in vitro is only slightly reduced by ketorolac (control 99.5 vs. 99.3%) when the concentration of ketorolac in blood plasma reaches 5-10 micrograms/ml.
- In vitro studies show that at therapeutic concentrations of salicylate (300 mcg/ml), ketorolac binding was reduced from about 99.2% to 97.5%, which represents a potential twofold increase in the level of unbound ketorolac in blood plasma.
- When ketorolac is used together with ASA, its binding to proteins decreases, although the clearance of free ketorolac does not change.
- The clinical significance of this interaction is unknown, however, as with other NSAIDs, the simultaneous use of ketorolac and ASA is usually not recommended due to the potential increase in side effects.
- Clinical studies, as well as post-registration observations, have shown that ketorolac can reduce the natriuretic effect of furosemide and thiazide diuretics in some patients.
- The simultaneous use of ketorolac inside and probenecid led to a decrease in clearance and d'>Vd ketorolac, as well as a significant increase in the level of ketorolac in blood plasma (total AUC increased approximately 3 times from 5.4 to 17.8 mcg·h/ml) and terminal 1/2'>T1/2 (increases approximately 2 times from 6.6 to 15.1 hours).
- Ketorolac already included in the drug: Ketorolac..
- Drugs: Ketorolac and Ketorolac есть common active substance : Ketorolac. Pay attention to the dosage..
-
No interactions
- In a study involving 12 adult volunteers, oral administration of ketorolac in combination with warfarin (a single dose of 25 mg) did not cause significant changes in the pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics of warfarin.
- In another study, ketorolac I/V or I/ m was administered together with two doses of heparin 5000 units to 11 healthy volunteers.
-
Positive interactions
- Ketorolac is highly bound to human plasma proteins (on average 99.2%).
- With the simultaneous use of ketorolac with pentoxifylline, there is an increased tendency to bleeding.
-
Unclear interactions
- Ketorolac does not alter the binding of digoxin to plasma proteins.
- Therapeutic concentrations of digoxin, warfarin, ibuprofen, naproxen, piroxicam, paracetamol, phenytoin and tolbutamide did not alter the binding of ketorolac to plasma proteins.
- Trometamol + Ketorolac analgin and citramon are used together in 6 preparations.

Decoding the colors of interactions and contraindications
Dangerous | — | a pronounced negative interaction or contraindication. |
Negative | — | negative interaction or side effect that may reduce effectiveness. |
Positive | — | the interaction can SOMETIMES be used as a positive (often a dose adjustment is needed), or it is an indication of the drug. |
No | — | the drugs do NOT interact, which is separately indicated in the instructions. |
Unclear | — | the system failed to pre-assess the danger. |

Additional information
- Kiberis checks interactions and evaluates drug compatibility for free online right in the instructions thanks to the latest artificial intelligence technologies. The accuracy of finding is more than 95%, the accuracy of the hazard assessment is more than 80%. The online medical service takes into account all the drug groups of the selected drugs and all their components. And since the database contains 25,000 drugs with detailed instructions, not every pharmacologist can compete with our artificial intelligence. List of popular interactions.
