Typical features

 Согласно hale, вербена широко распространена в прериях и низинных местах на всей территории соединенных штатов. Это популярное народное средство от малярии, особенно в случае хронизации болезни. Корни растения имеют очень резкий, неприятный, горький привкус. Д-р griffin из нью-йорка предложил это растение в качестве антидота при отравлении ядовитым плющом. richey horner («med. cent.», vi. 324) опубликовал описание эпилептических припадков, развившихся во время приступов коклюшного кашля. Прием 12 капель настойки verbena каждые два часа вылечил пациента. Состояние улучшилось после первого же приема и осталось стойким, хотя в первые две недели еще возникали эпилептические припадки в форме абсансов. Пациент принимал препарат без перерывов в течение шести недель.
